Love dark fiction and horror? Lee Murray’s “Grotesque Monster Stories” will have you on the edge of your seat

Sometimes there’s nothing better than curling up to read a terrifying story in the safety of your own home. So I thought I’d delve into Lee Murray’s dark fiction and horror anthology and re-read some of my favourites.

Grotesque: Monster Stories is an outstanding collection from a fantastic author. Be on the lookout for what’s sure to be one of the top collections of 2020.”  — Gingernuts of Horror

A.J. reading some great dark fiction and horror with Lee Murray's Grotesque: Monster Stories.

I’m a fan of the Taine McKenna series, so I was really pleased to see Into the Sky at the end of the collection. It was great to finish the book with a such a strong action driven horror. Moreover, “Into the Sky” is a great companion short story to Lee Murray’s excellent thrillers, Into the Mist, Into the Sounds, and Into the Ashes. And, even better, I got to see all my favourite characters again. Taine and Lefty and Eriksen are a lot of fun. The kind of characters everyone loves.

Anyway, why am I still writing when you can check out a preview of Grotesque Monster stories to your left? Or find out more about Lee Murray here with 5 Questions with Lee Murray.

Happy reading, fans of dark fiction and horror…

Happy, terrifying reading 🙂

P.S. I also have some pretty terrifying dark fiction in various collections. Friends, BlindSight and others. But I’m not sure I have enough horror and dark fairy tales for a straight horror collection, and they’re very different from my lighter work and science fiction. It’s weird, but I probably have poetry that’s a better fit. Anyway, it’s something to think about. 🙂
